Data Governance Lead

Job Introduction

As a Data Governance Lead, you will be welcomed into a dynamic and inclusive Knowledge and Performance team working on delivering corporate and data strategies. The Data Governance Lead is the operational lead for data governance in the IOPC and responsible for the delivery of the data governance framework and the data governance and quality priorities and deliverables set out in the data strategy.

Main Responsibility

  • Design, deliver and manage enterprise-wide data and information governance and data quality frameworks; embedding it in the day-to-day work of operational areas.
  • Lead, build and deliver the governance processes and systems to execute and deploy the enterprise Data Strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction across IOPCs portfolio of change initiatives/programmes and BAU activities; managing resource to ensure delivery.
  • Delivery of an enterprise wide Data Governance Programme aligned to technical, legislative and regulatory requirements that align with the IT Strategy, Change Programmes, Corporate Priorities and management of Corporate Risks.
  • Design and deliver a programme to define, master, and enhance data to ensure it meets the needs of the business and analytical teams
  • Lead and participate in industry and relevant data alliances and networks – promoting excellence in Data Governance across industry and Government
  • Lead the culture change required to ensure that the application of Data Governance is recognised as a key enabler to the successful delivery of IOPC’s corporate strategy.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience

  • Experience of establishing governance processes and implementing enterprise-wide data governance and proven improvements in data quality.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of law and trends in data policy.
  • Strong, up to date knowledge of data governance theory, standard methodology, and practical considerations.
  • Experience of data ethics and an appreciation of the legal, commercial, and moral aspects of taking care of sensitive data.
  • Experience delivering significant business change.
  • Proven experience of engaging and influencing business stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of building and leading a team.

Additional Information:

The IOPC is not eligible to participate in the Civil Service transfer process, therefore successful candidates will not be able to transfer to the IOPC on their existing terms and conditions.

The IOPC does not participate in the UK Visa Sponsorship Scheme therefore, candidates will have to provide evidence of their Right to Work in the UK if offered a role with us.
